Should you reward yourself at times?

Image
We should always be on the “grind”! - Never rest, always hustle! – Who waits for tomorrow when you can do it all today! Okay, okay I get it but, listen to what I’ve got to say. The different side of the coin is worth listening to. Here’s the thing- We should reward ourselves at times after we reach our goals. You know, there is no point in mindlessly working and there is this thing called “grind” which I absolutely hate. The whole idea of “grind” is that one should always work all day and the work is light, that is, it should be done little by little but we should be working all the time. You know why I hate it? It’s because if we develop the tendency of being in “grind” then the work that we’ve targeted to complete, is most likely not to end in the stipulated time and in the long run, we become LAZY, like, literally, we become “LAZY”! And moreover, by the time we end some particular work, by being on the grind, the next work comes in and in the end, NO REST AT ALL. The fact is, we hat...

Creativity thrives with constraints - WHAT!?

Image
Creativity is free- It cannot be held back- Imagination is beyond the clutches of the material world- It cannot be hindered! Okay okay it’s enough! I get your point. But just allow me to place a different side of the coin– Let’s get into this like this- What if I tell you that Creativity actually thrives with constraints. Sorry, but I would like to agree to this point that Jake Parker seems to make pretty much every time. No, I totally agree with that! Creativity THRIVES with CONSTRAINTS. Why am I making this point? Well, have you ever wondered the actual reason why artists resort to “art-prompts” before beginning an illustration? The reason is none other than creating a perimeter before beginning an illustration! Creating a perimeter for the thoughts to channel in a particular direction so that we can come with a unique idea! Isn’t it? Yeah that is it! Like, I’ve set myself a timer of half an hour to finish this blog as I’m writing it :) This is why we’re given literal ‘topics’ ...

You DON'T have to put in so much effort in just one work - | Finished NOT Perfect

Image
Finished NOT Perfect Let’s repeat what I just said: “FINISHED NOT PERFECT”. Think of the situation where you've completed writing an essay or just finished a drawing. And, the day before you’re going to turn in your essay to your teacher or share your art with the world through social media, one thing surely strikes in your mind: “Is this good enough to be shown?”, “It’s not that good as others”, “Is this up to the mark?” And, what ends up happening is that, you either don’t submit it or, if you’re midway through it, you don’t proceed to finish it. This is the reason why we get bored, procrastinate and grow hate towards a particular task. So, follow this mantra: “Finished Not Perfect” If you want to do something, then just START IT! And most importantly, FINISH IT! Because, what the world needs is people, who can FINISH things! No one cares if it’s perfect or not. Perfection comes gradually. The great artists whom you see on social media, were NOT born perfect, they practiced...

How can I improve my drawing skills? Here's how you can- | Quality VS. Quantity

Image
Everyone want's to improve in drawing, right? Everyone wants to make masterpieces... But how to actually excel in that? What should we focus on? How can we improve ourselves effectively? To find out, keep on reading! QUALITY VS. QUANTITY This is a quite debated topic. We often hear people say, quality of a product is what matters and not on the quantity. Well… When it comes to drawing, it’s just the opposite!  What’s the biggest fear before starting to draw? Yes, we are afraid of the OUTCOME. And, that’s the reason why most people are AFRAID of art. We always have the mentality that, whatever we do, it should be PERFECT but NO, it’s not just about art, rather, about life in general. The thing is, the more you put in the work, the more you’re going to get good at it! Yeah! That’s the key right there! If you want to be a poet, go start writing poems. At the beginning, it’s obvious that you’ll write crappy poetry at the beginning, but the more you write, the more you’re going to learn...
