Should you reward yourself at times?
We should always be on the “grind”! - Never rest, always hustle! – Who waits for tomorrow when you can do it all today!
Okay, okay I get it but, listen to what I’ve got to say. The different side of the coin is worth listening to.
Here’s the thing- We should reward ourselves at times after we reach our goals. You know, there is no point in mindlessly working and there is this thing called “grind” which I absolutely hate. The whole idea of “grind” is that one should always work all day and the work is light, that is, it should be done little by little but we should be working all the time. You know why I hate it? It’s because if we develop the tendency of being in “grind” then the work that we’ve targeted to complete, is most likely not to end in the stipulated time and in the long run, we become LAZY, like, literally, we become “LAZY”! And moreover, by the time we end some particular work, by being on the grind, the next work comes in and in the end, NO REST AT ALL. The fact is, we hate this whole idea of “resting”. We fail to realize the importance of taking breaks. Now, in the first few days of being on the grind it might feel good, but, by the time you realize it, this “grind” will already start taking a toll on your mental health. You’ll find it difficult to manage time for yourself and after that, I hope I don’t have to explain what’ll happen.
So what to do now?
REWARD YOURSELF AT TIMES! And how to do that you ask? Well, I hope you remember that, in my last blog, I talked about the importance of having a “constraint”. So, I’ll again say that, to always complete the task within the constraint you’ve set up for yourself! And then, take some rest. As easy as that. Do something which you don’t consider as “work”. Like, listen to some music, read some comics or go for a walk. It’s as easy as that. The reason you go out for tours is the same reason we need to reward ourselves. Like for me, as I’ll complete writing this blog within the time-limit, I’ll reward myself by listening to music without any interruption for 15 mins. So, at the end of the day, work as much as it’ll be viable and never pressurize yourself! And of course, reward yourself after attaining every little goal! NEVER EVEN THINK OF BEING ON GRIND OR SOMETHING!
